Visitor Services Representative
Position Summary: Reporting to the Lake of the Woods Museum Director, the Visitors Services Representative (VSR) will work to ensure that each visitor’s museum experience will be a great one. Their friendly attitude, helpful demeanour, and knowledgable information sharing will be key to a positive and educational museum experience for each person who visits the Museum.

The VSR will be responsible for front-line services which will include: museum admissions, giftshop sales, preliminary response to research requests; excellent customer service, photocopying requests, tourism information. They will work with the Community Engagement Officer on matters of marketing, programming, and membership development.

In addition, special projects will be assigned which will be related to the Museum’s role in community recognitions of the Path of the Paddle celebrations, the Canada Summer Games commemoration, and Canada 150 events.

Qualifications:
University/college studies in history, museum studies, library sciences or a related field.
Prior museum work experience would be preferable.
An understanding of museums and their role in a community.
An ability to work pleasantly with the public, cooperatively and enthusiastically with others, and effectively on their own.
Working knowledge of computers (Mac system) - e-mail, internet use, word processing, database programs, design programs, presentation programs.
Experience in customer service and cash handling experience.
Research and organizational skills.
An attention to detail.
A willingness to learn.
Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of Kenora and the area and its history.
A willingness to work weekends, some evenings and some statutory holidays.
Be eligible as a candidate for the Young Canada Works program.

Duration: May 23 - September 2, 2017
Wage: $14.35/hr
