The Pemberton Museum is a one acre site with five historic buildings, a programming facility and administration/display centre. It is a not-for-profit society that receives funding for basic operations from local government on an annual basis. The museum began operations in 1982 and summer students have contributed significantly to the ongoing development of the museum and its collection and programs through the years.
The Pemberton experience affords the ideal candidate a unique small town work experience in the southern Coast Mountains. Pemberton is also home to the Pemberton Music Festival. Historically, Pemberton was founded as a settlement along the Harrison-Lillooet Gold Rush Trail of 1858 and was an important Port for the early steamers serving 30,000 gold rushers who passed through the region. Modern day Pemberton has been designated a gateway community to the south coastal range backcountry, and is one of Canada’s fastest growing municipalities of its size.
