The Copperbelt Railway & Mining Museum is seeking candidates for the position of Visitor Experience Coordinator for the 2017 operating season.

The Visitor Experience Coordinator researches and develops interpretive tours and self-guided tours at the museum. They work with the Heritage Interpreters and the Programs Associate in order to ensure that the activities of the museum meet the mandate of the organization by ensuring the accuracy of heritage story-telling and consistency in the quality of services. The Visitor Experience Coordinator will also work with the Executive Director of the museum to develop exhibits and the interpretive panels relating to the exhibits. They are expected to have a sophisticated level of knowledge of local history as it correlates to the mandate of the museum. They will also be expected to continue to develop their knowledge through research and inquiry. In addition, the Visitor Experience Coordinator is expected to assist in the delivery of interpretive tours and programs as required.

The successful candidate will be a full-time post-secondary student, pursuing a degree in any of the following (or related) fields: history, business, natural sciences, culture or not-for-profit administration. This position requires an ability to communicate effectively in English. This position requires a responsible, hard-working individual who is comfortable conducting research, speaking in public and leading events and activities. Knowledge of the history of Whitehorse, its economic development, heritage lifestyles, basic gardening and lesson planning would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and computer skills.

Current CPR/First Aid qualification would be considered an asset.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain a clear RCMP Vulnerable Persons' Clearance Check.

This position will run from May 8th - August 25th, 2017.

$18/hour.
