The Dawson City Museum is hiring a Bilingual Heritage Interpreter for the summer of 2017.
The successful candidate will:
— present the Museum and its collections to our visitors through educational and interactive interpretive programs in both official languages
— present demonstrations in both official languages
— present audio-visual programs in both official languages
— assist with community events
— undertake visitor surveys
— other reasonable duties as required
Candidates must be full-time students returning to school in the fall and be willing to commit to work from the middle of May to September. The ideal candidate for this position loves to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds. They are friendly and courteous and have a passion for learning. They enjoy doing research in order to provide excellent visitor service. They will have the ability to work with a range of audiences and to work both as a member of a team and independently. Knowledge of Klondike human and natural history will be considered an asset. Students enrolled in Theatre, Museum Studies, History, Education, or related disciplines, are encouraged to apply. The position requires long periods of standing, walking, negotiating stairs, and some lifting (under 12kgs).
