The Borden & District Museum consists of 5 buildings located at 201 Main Street, Borden SK, and requires a mature, outgoing summer student to work in our Museum from May 9 to August 26 2017. The student will work 30 hours a week, 6 hours a day, Tuesday to Saturday with Saturday & Sunday off. The wage offered is $15 per hour. Students should have completed at least one or more years of University/College. The student needs good organizational skills and must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint. Guiding visitors and tour groups through the museum is an important part of summer activities. The selected student will learn our accessioning system. They will set up a bulletin board about the “Life and Times” of a local resident, help arrange our Canada 150 display in the gallery area of the school house and set up a new display about Foster’s Store( founded in 1905 and recently closed). For 6 weeks in July and August the student will help present “Adventures in the Museum”, on Thursdays from 2-4. This program is geared for ages 8-88 and will feature guest speakers and simple crafts to take home. The student will help with watering and maintaining our pumpkin patch and flower gardens, There will be other duties as assigned.
All applicants must be registered with Young Canada Works and be returning to full time studies in the fall.
