The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives has a solid reputation in our community and the North Okanagan region. Our mandate is to educate community members, researchers and visitors, in an interesting and dynamic way, on the varied history and heritage of the Greater Vernon area.

We have a number of active outreach and education programs, including our In-Spot Museum and Exhibition Program, which incorporates 3 area-specific museums and two focused comprehensive external exhibitions.

The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives has the privilege of being listed as a top priority in the 2016 Greater Vernon Cultural Plan and we are only a few years away from expanding and getting a new facility. Therefore the Young Canada Works Museum Assistant will work to strengthen the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives’ artefact collection, participate in exhibition development and production, contribute to outreach and community events, and have the opportunity to meet and network with other arts and culture professionals.

Supported by a demonstrated interest in museum and collection activities, as well as strong research and computer skills, the Museum Assistant will contribute to the development and management of the Museum and Archives, and our In-Spot programs, to the highest professional standards.

The Greater Vernon area is a hub for arts and culture. Exciting changes are happening at the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives and we are looking for a fun and dynamic individual to join our team!

Qualifications:
Strong interest in Museum, Anthropology and/ or History related subjects and activities
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good research and computer skills
Good problem solving and multitasking abilities
Flexible and organized
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to work in different work environments

Other Requirements: Valid B.C. Driver’s license
