The Collections Inventory Assistant works within the Winnipeg Art Gallery's Collection Management towards the completion of an inventory of the WAG's Inuit art holdings. This project is important for the creation of the WAG's Inuit Art Centre that will begin construction in 2017. There may be other works of art that need description and entry into the collection database.

Qualifications for the position
- completion of a least one year of post secondary education at either university or community college
-enrolled as a full-time student in fall 2017
-no older than 30 years of age
-interest in Inuit art is an asset

Typical duties for the Collections Inventory Assistant include:
-describing works of art accurately along with their locations
-taking identification photographs of the works of art
-entering the information into the collections database
-moving works of art safely as needed
-other duties as required by the Collections Managers

This position calls for a post-secondary student who is enrolled full-time in studies in art history, history or arcival management. The candidate must be organized and have keen observation skills, be details-oriented and capable if working independently while keeping the Collection Managers well-informed. The chosen application must be not older than 30 years of age and returning to school on a full-time basis in fall 2017. The WAG will give priority to hiring of an individual in a target employment equity group.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is the city's largest art museum. Other cultural and heritage attractions of note includee the Manitoba Museum, Assiniboine Park (Pavilion Gallery and the Zoo); the Saint-Boniface Museum and various historic sites in the immediate area such as Riel House, the Forks National Historical site and Dalnavert Museum. For summer 2017, there will be additional attractions relating to Canada's 150th anniversary.
