Job description:
The candidate will work closely with the Museum Curator to assist in the daily running of the museum including leading tours, conducting research, and providing support during events. In addition, the candidate will be tasked with creating educational programming reflecting museum resources and the provincial curriculum.

This is an opportunity for those who are interested in pursuing a career, or have an interest in, museums, art galleries, education, tourism, event planning/management and/or business. You will be working in a small museum and art gallery that is operated by a Municipality during a time of celebration of arts, culture and heritage across the country for Canada's 150th.

Qualifications:
Be enrolled in the fields of museum, arts, culture or tourism studies, teaching or education, event planning or management, and/or business. Basic computer skills and an ability to use the Internet and Microsoft Office is required, additional graphic design skills are an asset. Outgoing, and strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with an ability to be creative, solve problems, and work independently, and as part of a team, is essential. Knowledge of local history and a passion for education and heritage and culture is considered an asset.
You must:
- be legally entitled to work in Canada
- be a Canadian citizen between 16 and 30 years of age
- be registered in the YCW on-line candidate inventory (www.youngcanadaworks.ca)
- not have another full-time job (over 30 hours/week)
- be a full-time student in the semester preceding the YCW job
- intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
