In 2018, The Reach will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Our goal is to generate awareness and build excitement with local audiences about who we are and what we do. We are seeking a candidate to help us grow our community outreach capacity.
The Reach Gallery Museum is seeking a recent post-secondary graduate for the position of Cultural Programs Intern. The candidate will receive professional mentorship and gain valuable hands-on experience through in a series of project-based initiatives. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed applicant to help us promote our anniversary through community events and exhibitions and contribute to our social media presence throughout the work term.
Our ideal candidate is a motivated, outgoing individual who loves working with people. Our candidate has excellent research, communication, project management, and community-building skills to help us to shape important projects in 2018 and 2019. We’re looking for someone who is a recent post-secondary graduate with a degree in community development, museum studies, Indigenous studies, art history, history, cultural studies, studio art, anthropology, history, library science, or an equivalent field related to culture and heritage.
Familiarity with standard web applications, social media platforms, and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access) is required for this job. You must be able to work independently, but also be flexible and comfortable collaborating with others to achieve overall goals and objectives. Experience with facilitation and program planning are not necessary but are considered an asset. The Reach hopes to support a candidate aspiring to work in the areas of community development, cultural administration, public programming, or curatorship.
