The Opportunity

Working in the Paul D. Fleck Library and Archives, the Project Archives Assistant will be responsible for overseeing a project to update the Finding Aid for the Indigenous Arts fonds. Previously created 10 years ago, the Finding Aid provided descriptions of archival material created by the Indigenous Arts Program between 1998-2004, the successful candidate will be responsible for updating the Finding Aid, and promoting the collection.

Specific Accountabilities:
-Working with the Archivist, add material from 2005-2010 in the Archives to the Indigenous Arts fonds and Finding Aid.
-Describe the material in keeping with RAD
-Update the Finding Aid, with an eye to inclusive language.
-Upload the Finding Aid to an online database to encourage use and discovery of the materials.
-Work to highlight the collection by identifying and digitizing interesting and important pieces from the collection.
-Rehouse the material for long-term archival storage.

Qualification and Educational Requirements
-Strong project management skills
-Strong technical skills
-Good written communication skills
-Understanding of archival materials, and archival research
-Demonstration of a keen eye for detail

Special Requirements

Candidates offered a position with the Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check verifying a clear record before a final job offer can be finalized.

Only candidates who are registered with Young Canada Works (YCW) and meet all eligibility criteria will be considered.

Employment Terms & Benefits

The position pays $17.00 an hour (plus 4% vacation pay).
