Do you want to help children continue learning through-out the summer using hands- on activities that connect their reading to our community and the wider world? The Summer Reading Club Coordinator position at the Lillooet Area Library Association provides an opportunity to learn new skills and enhance your existing strengths to help reach your career goals. We are a supportive team based workplace, where you will be able to pursue your goals and participate in a vital community organization.
Position: Summer Reading Club Coordinator
Employer: Lillooet Area Library Association
Wage: $15.50/ hr; 30 hours/ week
Duration: 11 weeks
Start/ Finish: June 19 2017 – September 1st 2017

You will:
• develop and deliver age appropriate and culturally relevant summer programs, using the provincial Summer Reading Club theme “Walk on the Wild Side” and Play-it-Fair materials as guides
• supervise and guide two co-workers
• help participants produce audio or written accounts of personal stories
• develop your own knowledge of Lillooet area history and ecology
• engage community volunteers to be resource people for the program
• collect and analyze statistical and outcome measurement information

Qualifications
• 1 or more years Post-secondary education
• Proficient computer skills
• Previous experience as a youth leader and/or enthusiasm for working with children
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Strongly self-motivated, responsible,
• Imaginative, creative, playful, energetic
• Knowledgeable about St’at’imc values, history and current governance
• Knowledgeable about children's literature
• Knowledge of local ecology or interest in theme of “Walk on the Wild Side”
• Understanding of the importance of early literacy
• Well organized
