Coalition for Music Education in Canada - Youth4Music Summer Student

The Coalition for Music Education in Canada is accepting applications for a summer student position through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This is an excellent opportunity to gain and apply diverse communication skills and tools, network, and work with a national organization. Please see below for eligibility, application process, position details, and requirements.

Eligibility:
Student must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Student must have been a full time post-secondary student during the 2015/16 year and returning as a full time student during the 2016/17 year
The student’s permanent address must be at least 125 kilometers from Toronto (travel and accommodations may be subsidized by Young Canada Works)
Student who have fluent French skills in reading, writing and speaking are an asset

Position Details:
June 5 - August 11, 2017 (10 weeks)
30 hours/week (6 hours per day)
48 days worked (paid holiday on July 3 and August 7)
$19.50/hour
Reporting to the Toronto office with meetings on and off site

Requirements
Successful candidates will possess the following skills:
Passion for supporting music and music education
Exceptional computer skills with strong proficiency in web-based programs and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task with several projects
Enthusiastic with a positive attitude
Ability to work individually with an initiative while effectively communication with the Coalition Team

Primary Tasks
Liaise with general public, members, and partners by phone, email and in person
Help to support coordination of special events and projects
Support Coalition programs and initiatives
Work with Coalition Team to prepare newsletter and social media materials
Update membership database information and catalogue supporters
Outreach to musical communities and collection of data
Support planning, communication and development of Youth4Music symposium and network
