The Dawson City Museum requires an assistant archivist to help visitors with their research in the Museum's Library and Archives.

The successful candidate will:

— provide knowledgeable, timely and accurate assistance to researchers, local citizens and tourists using the database and other informational sources within the archives;
— will undertake research on behalf of visitors;
— handle the sale of archival photographs
— keep and report records on archives and library use;
—research and prepare a small exhibit for display in the archives;
—benefit from supervision working with a full time archivist in the beautiful Old Territorial Administration Building National Historic Site at the Dawson City Museum

Candidates must be full-time returning students and be willing to commit to work from the middle of May to the end of August. The ideal candidate will have excellent research, organizational and verbal communication skills. They will have the ability to work with a wide range of visitors and to work both independently and as a member of a team. Knowledge of Klondike human and natural history will be considered an asset. Students enrolled in Archival Studies, Library Sciences, Education or Museology or other related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
The position requires long periods of sitting. Most work will be done on the second floor of a National Historic Site building that is not wheelchair accessible. The Dawson City Museum is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified candidates will be considered.
