The development and administrative intern is an exciting position, ideal for a recent graduate of an undergraduate art, arts administration or fundraising management program, and will contribute to a successful program of philanthropy and provide administrative support. S/he will report to the development manager.


Annual Giving: The intern will be involved in supporting all aspects of the donor pipeline, including prospecting, solicitation and stewardship activities. S/he will respond to inquiries from donors and provide friendly and professional customer service.

Donations Processing:

The intern will be responsible for timely and accurate processing of gifts, including tax receipting, with strict adherence of Canada Revenue Agency regulations, creating entries in the database and gift acknowledgment.

Solicitation Campaigns:

Contribute to the planning and conducting of direct response campaigns for donor appeals, including opportunities to execute social media campaigns.

Finance and Administration:

Assist co-publisher by processing receivables and payables, making regular bank deposits and completing other paperwork as required. Assist in other departments’ administrative tasks as required.


Assist other staff in the coordination of Canadian Art events. Assist staff on-site if required (may be on occasional evening or weekend).

Qualifications Required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional attention to detail

Highly organized and has experience with meeting deadlines

Experience with Word and Excel

Results-oriented and highly motivated to achieve goals

Friendly, courteous and positive

Flexible and adaptable

Professional and demonstrates discretion in dealing with confidential matters

Strongly Preferred Qualifications (not necessary)

Experience working with a fundraising database is an asset

Independent project management

Knowledge and interest in the visual arts
