Summer Reading Club Assistants (2)

Clarington Public Library has two Assistant Positions available for their 2017 TD Summer Reading Club program. These full-time positions offer the opportunity to:
• Assist in the planning and delivery of multiple weekly programs that present reading as a fun activity
• Work directly with both preschool-aged and school-aged children to foster their love of reading and use of their Public Library
• Assist the Programs Coordinator in the promotion of the Summer Reading Club programs in the Clarington Community through displays and outreach

The ideal candidates for these positions will possess the following skills and characteristics:
• Experienced in, and comfortable with, working with large groups of children
• Experience in creating promotional displays
• Knowledge of children’s literature, with a concentration on Canadian resources
• Excellent verbal communication skills in English

These positions would provide an ideal summer employment experience for a student in Library Sciences, either at the Technician level or enrolled in a Masters degree program. They would also provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with children for a post-secondary student who is planning a career in Education.
