The Dawson City Museum requires a Reading Room Supervisor to help in the Museum's Klondike History Library.

The successful candidate will:

— provide knowledgeable, timely and accurate assistance to researchers, local citizens and tourists using on-site library and other informational sources;

— will undertake research on behalf of visitors;

— handle reproductions of book and other resources;

— keep and report records on library use;

—research and prepare a small exhibit for display in the Klondike History Library;

Candidates must be full-time returning students and be willing to commit to work from the middle of May to the end of August. The ideal candidate will have excellent research, organizational and verbal communication skills. They will have the ability to work with a wide range of visitors and to work both independently and as a member of a team. Knowledge of Klondike human and natural history will be considered an asset. Students enrolled in Library Sciences, Archival Studies, Education or Museology, or other related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

The position requires long periods of sitting. Most work will be done on the second floor of a National Historic Site building that is not wheelchair accessible. The Dawson City Museum is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified candidates will be considered.
