Job Position: Festival Assistant (bilingual – English/French)

Location: Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society | Edmonton, AB | Kaleido Family Arts Festival

Dates : June 7th to August 5th, 2017

Duration: 11 weeks

Wages: $15.00/hour at 30 hours/week

About the Festival:

The Kaleido Family Arts Festival is a community-driven project. Twelve years ago it was envisioned, conceived, and implemented by community-invested residents. Kaleido is a fantastic example of a community arts initiative that has effectively created positive change and broken the confines of a neglected and deteriorated neighbourhood through the arts. This FREE multi-arts festival has paved the way for more community-centered arts activities along Alberta Avenue. Kaleido Family Arts Festival is part of AOTA’s effort of reminding our city, that even the most neglected and run-down neighbourhoods can become warmer, happier, healthier places by simply providing them with an accessible outlet for sustained, creative community participation.

The ideal candidate for the position:

• is an enthusiastic, self-starter who is flexible and resourceful;

• enjoys working in a fast-paced, fun environment with minimal supervision;

• has a keen interest and/or experience or studies in an arts or administrative field (preferred);

• has a good working knowledge of both official languages (French and English) written and spoken;

• has excellent writing and communication skills;

• excellent customer service skills;

• is organized, responsible and reliable;

• possesses a good knowledge of social media marketing tools;

• has good computer skills

• has a valid driver’s license (required)

Can be studying Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Communications, Social Sciences or other relevant

discipline. Interest in the Arts is a must.

Candidates must have been a full-time student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW job AND intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
