The CFI is looking for a student who would like to jump-start their career in film, animation, or the arts. You would be working in the OIAF’s Film Operations department to help with submissions, publications, film traffic and more! Bonus project: Use your French language skills to help make the OIAF more bilingual.

The Canadian Film Institute runs film events and festivals throughout the year including the Ottawa International Animation Festival which is one of the largest events of its kind in the world.

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is the only major, film festival in Ottawa. It is the largest competitive film festival for animation in North America. Each autumn, for five busy days and nights, OIAF provides an engaging array of first-class screenings, talks and special events and allows audiences the chance to discover the art of animation in all its diversity.


To apply you must:
be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible);
be legally entitled to work in Canada;
be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment;
have been a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment;
intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment;

You will be mentored by an experienced team of curators and event managers who will help you learn the software and skills that you will need to build a career in the arts.

We are seeking candidates who:
>have strong english writing skills that can be applied in a business setting.
>have strong spoken and written french skills that can be applied in a business setting.
>have advanced interpersonal skills.
>be enthusiastic and eager to work in the arts.
>be tech-savvy (advanced computer skills) and a fast learner.
>love to organize.
>knowledge of design programs, website design, av equipment and/or database management are all an asset.


The OIAF welcomes students from across Canada to apply. Some funding for accommodation and travel is available from Young Canada Works.
