Job description: The University of Winnipeg Archives seeks to hire a student as an Archives Assistant for twelve weeks (29 May 2017 – 18 August 2017) to arrange and describe the records of the Congress of Black Women of Manitoba Inc., as well as develop a digital exhibition about the audio-visual history of the University of Winnipeg in celebration of the university's 50th anniversary. This work experience would give the applicant a well-rounded view of the archival profession and build his or her skillset for future employment in the field. The applicant would be expected to perform many of the key archival functions including appraisal, arrangement, description, access and outreach. The language of work for the position is English.

Necessary qualifications: Applicants must be registered with Young Canada Works and meet its eligibility criteria.

Applicants should have a minimum of one year of study in a graduate Archival Studies program. Basic data entry and computer skills and strong oral and written communication skills are required. Experience in the arrangement and description of archival records is preferred. Experience with the AtoM and Archivematica software is also preferred. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs is an asset but not required.
