Qualifications: The student should be interested in a field of study that includes one of the following: museum/history studies, tourism, or education. As well they need to have good computer skills and knowledge, time management skills and the ability to deal with the public in a friendly manner at all times.
Duties: The student will be in charge of the museum complex on a day to day basis. This will involve dealing with tourists; giving guided tours of the complex; dealing with artifact data collection; fundraising; dealing with Board of Directors and general maintenance of the complex.
The Herbert CPR Train Station Museum Complex is located on the #1 Highway 45 kms east of Swift Current, Sask. The complex consists of an original train station, a boxcar, snowplow, school house and implement yard. The community has population of approximately 900 people. Herbert is host to a July 1st celebration ; to an annual CCA sanctioned rodeo on the August long weekend put on by the Herbert Stampede Association (herbertstampede.com) and is close to the South Saskatchewan River where many regional parks can be found (saskregionalparks.ca).
