The principal repository for the documentary heritage of the province, the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick, seeks Student Photograph Archivist for a 16-week position, to begin May 16. 2017 and end on August 26, 2017. Wage is $13.25/hr, 37.5hrs/week.

This position offers a student currently enrolled in an Arts program the opportunity to be an active participant in creating archival descriptions for 100+ year old photographic material (glass negatives) at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick. Alternatively, a student enrolled in a photography (diploma) program with a particular interest in the history of photography may be considered as well.

You will:
Learn about archives, including archival digitization standards and practices

Forge relationships with experienced archives professionals

If you are interested in a career in Heritage, currently enrolled in an Arts program or a photography (diploma) program, have excellent writing, organizational and communication skills, and are interested in learning about archives, we would like to hear from you.

The Provincial Archives are located in the beautiful and historic capital city of Fredericton, NB, on the St. John River. The city is a regional cultural hub: Fredericton is home to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival (and many other annual music events). Fredericton also boasts many fine cafes and restaurants, as well as an elaborate and well-kept walking and biking trail network.
