Summer Reading Club Coordinator

Cumberland Public Libraries

(Position based in Amherst)

The Cumberland Public Libraries, headquartered in Amherst, Nova Scotia, seeks a dynamic and energetic individual to plan, organize, publicize and execute a Summer Reading program for children ages 3-12 in Cumberland County. The successful candidate would also be responsible for promoting and managing a Teen Summer reading program for students ages 13-18. As well, this position includes some circulation desk duties.

Duties include the organization of Summer Reading program activities, conducting programs such as storytimes, craft classes, puppet shows, and organizing and promoting fun reading related activities for children in 7 branch libraries throughout Cumberland County.

Applicants must be a returning full time student enrolled in a post secondary program and have a valid driver's license. Preference will be given to those with experience working with children and who are familiar with library organization and services. Preference will also be given to those candidates working toward degrees in library studies, education or public relations.

Full time (35 hours per week)—evenings and weekend shifts required
