The Alberta Aviation Museum is seeking an Archival Assistant to aid in the creation of an online digital image database for public usage. The Archival Assistant will assist the Head Curator by digitizing,
cataloguing, and preserving photographs, slides, and documents from our collection. Work for the Alberta Aviation Museum, where history takes flight!

Responsibilities include:
- Cataloguing documents and photographs in the museum’s database, using archival standards.
- Digitizing photographs, slides, and archival documents.
- Proper maintenance, handling, and storage of archival materials.
- Maintaining PastPerfect database and conducting periodic backups.
- Creating a keyword searchable, digital database for archival images and linking this database to the museum website with the assistance of the Communications and Marketing team.
- Assisting the Head Curator with preventative conservation measures.
- Monitoring and recording humidity and temperature readings monthly.
- Organizing oral history recordings and process digital audio-visual data.
- Responding to requests from the public for historical information and photographs.

Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in History, Museum Studies, Archival Studies, or a related field.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with museum and archival best practices.
- Previous experience working in a museum or archival setting an asset.
- Proficient in G Suite (Google Apps) and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with PastPerfect and HOBOware software an asset.
- Basic photography skills.
- Strong record-keeping, data-entry, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of local aviation history an asset.
