We are looking to hire a Youth Intern!!

The Salmo Valley Public Library is seeking a Computer Tutor/Youth Intern to:

• develop and facilitate a beginner computer tutoring program

• assist community members with computer and Internet training

The position is for a young adult between the ages of 16 and 30 who:

• has an interest in Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

• is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada

• is not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits during internship

• able to work from October 30, 2017 to March 31, 2018

• able to work approximately 28hrs/week. Hours are flexible and may change to accommodate workshops and programming.

• experience working directly with the public is an asset


Responsibilities:

• Developing and facilitating a beginners computer tutoring program

• Training and assisting the general public in basic computer and internet use

• Providing technical support

• Maintaining the Salmo Valley Public Library website

• Various reporting & maintenance

• Assisting in general Library duties

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Working knowledge of email, social media, computers & basic software, website development, devices (smartphones and tablets), and basic computer troubleshooting

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• A pleasant and respectful manner with people of all ages

• Has organizational & creativity skills

• Ability to work well independently
