The United Church Archives - Conference of Manitoba & Northwestern Ontario requires an Archives Assistant to review our finding aids and update our online database. No prior archival experience is necessary.
Qualifications - Third year undergraduate or graduate level student currently enrolled in an archival/information studies program, history, geography, religion or related discipline. Demonstrated understanding of the history and structure of the United Church of Canada is an asset. Excellent proficiency in oral and written English. Ability to work independently and to communicate effectively with the staff/volunteers of The United Church of Canada and with staff of the University of Winnipeg. Ability to focus while completing repetitive and detail-oriented tasks.
Training will be provided in basic archival practice, including arrangement and description; Rules for Archival Description; the use of AtoM software; basic preservation management practices; basic reference services; and basic curatorial practices.
Location - The United Church of Canada Archives - University of Winnipeg (515 Portage Ave)
Work Period -12 weeks (4 days per week; 30 hours per week) May 29 to August 17, 2017
Hourly Rate - $13.75
