The FOFA GALLERY at Concordia University in Montréal seeks a Curatorial Assistant. This is a full time temporary position that runs 22 weeks from October 30th 2017 – March 30th 2018, with the possibility of contract renewal. Rate of pay is $16 per hour.
The Curatorial Assistant will assist with the development and delivery of the FOFA Gallery exhibition program with a focus on the summer Tillutarniit Outdoor Film Festival and outdoor courtyard exhibition program.
This will be done in collaboration with the existing staff and production team including local community partners.
The individual will work in direct relation with the gallery director.
The ideal candidate will have a sincere interest in the role of arts and culture in the development of community as well as an understanding of Indigenous arts and culture. Recent graduates with a BFA or MFA in Studio Arts, Art History, or MA Art Education, Curatorial Studies, or Cultural Spaces Management are particularly encouraged to apply. They must be self-motivated and interested in working with a team.
The FOFA Gallery aims to increase the production of exhibitions and initiatives that feature Indigenous artists and works. As such, we will place great emphasis on seeking candidates who come from an Indigenous cultural background and have a deep understanding of the issues related to the representation of Indigenous culture.
