Young Canada Works Summer Student Position

Learning and Interpretive Collections Assistant

The Royal Alberta Museum requires a summer student to help prepare the Learning and Interpretive Collection for its future move to the new facility in downtown Edmonton. The candidate will inventory and photograph the collection, and update artifact records in The Museum System (TMS) database in addition to packing and storing artifacts, objects, props, and other learning resources to prepare for the move.

The position requires an individual presently enrolled in a Museum Studies program, Human Ecology program, History program, Natural History program, or equivalent. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Head of Learning and Volunteer Services and should be able to work independently as well as part of a team. The candidate must have good computer skills, strong attention to detail, and exhibit analytical thinking and problem solving skills. Previous experience with digital photography, museum collections and collections databases, as well as knowledge of preventative conservation practices are assets.

This is a 16 week summer position, starting May 8, 2017. Candidates must be returning to school full-time in the Fall of 2017. Please provide a cover letter, resume, and two references to:
