The Whitecourt & District Public Library is a small public library located in Whitecourt, Alberta (about 2 hours north west of Edmonton). The Library is a very busy library offering library services, resources and lots of programs to residents and visitors to the area. Whitecourt, Alberta is a community of just over 10,000 people, offering numerous attractions such as Rotary Park, the Alan and Jean Millar Centre, as well as numerous concerts, events and activities throughout the year.
The Student Library Assistant with the Whitecourt & District Public Library will:
Implement 4 summer reading programs (for different age groups) focusing on the theme Canada 150.
Assist library staff with existing library programs such as story-times, toddler time, teen movies, senior’s programs, etc.
Assist customers with computer and Internet questions.
Provide front-line customer service including: circulation services, reader’s advisory and reference services
Eligibility: Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada and be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must be between 16-30 years of age at start of employment and enrolled at a post-secondary institution as a full-time student (defined by the institution) in the Fall, 2017 semester, and must intend to return to full time studies in September, 2017. Must be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (9 weeks).
