Digital Collection Management Intern

The Bill Reid Centre is offering a 29-week paid position for a full-time intern who has recently completed education in museum studies, library or archival studies, Indigenous art history, anthropology, archaeology, First Nations studies, and/or a related discipline. This position is designed to provide work experience in digital collections management and digital stewardship of cultural heritage at Canada’s most engaged university.

The successful candidate will be a motivated, organized, self-starter with strong communication skills, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Duties include: digital file management; researching historic photographs; researching and advising on digital assessment management (DAM); creating metadata workflows; report writing; and installation and removal of web-based and in-person exhibits.

We are seeking an individual who enjoys working in a quiet research and task oriented environment. Required skills include: strong organizational, data entry, and data management skills; attention to detail; experience with digital museum, archive or gallery collections; knowledge of current issues in First Nations cultural heritage, excellent oral and written communication; interpersonal skills; research skills; and effective problem-solving skills.
