City of Pickering has a population of approx. 94,000. Our community has a dynamic urban centre with strong rural roots. With Toronto to our west and Ajax & the rest of the Durham Region to our east, we attract thousands of visitors from across the Greater Toronto Area and the Durham Region. As one of the few living history museums in the area, we offer a valued service to our community.

The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for reception and admissions through the Gift Shop, customer service, interpretive tours of the Museum Village site, researching and writing history papers, supporting the development and implementation of museum programs and exhibits on a daily basis.

Qualifications:
• An interest in, or studies relating to, Canadian history.
• Prior experience working with the public an asset.
• Previous general office and cashier experience.
• Knowledge of 19th century heritage skills an asset.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment with all levels of staff and independently.
• Must hold current Defibrillator (AED)/CPR-C and Standard First Aid.
• Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.
• Must have transportation to workplace.
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be continuing studies in the fall.
