Immerse yourself in local history this summer! At the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village, we are home to Ontario's most unique antique automobile collection, the only EMS Museum in Canada and a historic village with buildings relocated to our site from across the county. As a historic interpreter you will provide guided tours to our visitors, educating them on the history of Ontario south and the specialized automotive history of our region. Our historic interpreters are key to our sites success and you may also be asked to assist with our summer education programs and occasional fundraising events.

As an interpreter you will be asked to:
- work with other historic interpreters to deliver the most informative and interactive tour to guests
- complete research on buildings and automotive history
- work independently during designated tasks
- greet each guest with enthusiasm and hospitality
- be proactive and assist others during working tasks given by supervisors
- understand the POS system for taking in paid tour guests
- assist with special events
- work with the Education Coordinator to deliver interpretive programming
- have working knowledge of Microsoft suites
- arrange for your own transportation to and from work each day (no public transit available)
- work weekends and the occasional evening shift

Special considerations:
- working knowledge or French, Spanish or any second language will be considered an asset
- preference will be given to students who are enrolled in history, education or museum studies programs, or students who are actively seeking post-graduate work in museum institutions.

The Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village is located in beautiful Essex County, and has operated as a non-profit museum for over 60 years. Our museum showcases a wide variety of automobiles that reflect the importance of the industry in our region. Our village is dedicated to the pioneer history of Essex County, which is taught through our 20 building. On a larger scale Essex County is a unique region at the southernmost tip of Ontario. We boast a superior food tourism industry, a beautiful climate and a range of historical attractions. Local attractions can be explored through Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (www.visitwindsoressex.com) and include, The Freedom Museum, John R. Park Homestead, The Windsor Art Gallery and Chimcuzk Museum, waterfront festivals, car shows, local fairs, bike tours, outdoor trails, water sports and much more.
