Founded in January 2004, Apathy is Boring is a national youth-led non-partisan, charitable organization that uses art and technology to educate youth about democracy, with the aim of increasing youth voter turnout, increasing youth engagement in the democratic process and building a sustainable dialogue between youth and elected officials.

Apathy is Boring accomplishes its mission through three core programs:

-Elections Program: promotional campaigns during federal, provincial and municipal elections that inform and mobilize youth to vote, as well as research projects focused on tactics to improve youth voter mobilization.

-'Get Involved' Program: online and workshops, street teams, and live events offline that encourage youth to get involved in the democratic process and create opportunities for dialogue with their elected officials.

-'Youth Friendly' Program: workshops, audits, and other 'youth friendly' resources aimed at educating civil society and government about how to engage youth in decision-making.


Reporting to the Communications and Programming Coordinator, the Communications and Social Media Intern will be responsible for assisting with various communications projects and administrative tasks, including campaigns, promotional plans, archiving, and the creation of newsletters, press releases, annual reports and support docs. The intern will also be responsible for adhering to consistent branding and non-partisanship while helping to maintain A is B's social media presence. Web and graphic design experience is considered an asset for this position and would allow the intern to play a large role in maintaining A is B's web content and contributing to design projects. The intern may also assist in the planning and marketing of Apathy is Boring's Youth-friendly services and be responsible for researching new Youth-Friendly opportunities.


-University studies in Communications, Marketing, Arts, Graphic Design or Political science

-Excellent communications skills.

-Bilingualism (English and French).

-Independent worker, able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.

-Passion for current events and popular culture.

-Computer skills are essential.

-Web and graphic design experience an asset.

-Good grasp of Canada's democratic system.

-A sense of humour.

-Full time student, with intention to return to full time studies in September 2017.

-18 to 30 years of age at the start of the employment period.
