The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for heritage and culture, be pursuing studies in History, Education, Theatre, Museum Studies, Anthropology or related field and be returning to post-secondary studies in September 2017. Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, is essential. The candidate must have a willingness to learn, to work independently and ideally, have experience creating and delivering public programs.
This position will receive training from and work closely with the Museum Coordinator but will independently deliver the interpretive program to visitors at the historic sites.
This position is in part funded by the Young Canada Works employment program and to be considered, candidates must be registered in the YCW Candidate database. YCW criteria states that candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 30 years; Canadian citizens, permanent residents; legally entitled to work in Canada; have been a full-time student in the semester prior to the YCW job and intend to return to full-time studies in the fall. The Peace River Museum, Archives and Mackenzie Centre welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified Canadian students. Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must have a valid drivers license.
