Job Posting: Day Camp Counselor
Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the Camp Counselor is responsible for the development and implementation of recreation activities for our 5-week summer day camp.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research and develop age-appropriate, culturally- relevant and thematic socio recreation curriculums and special events.
• Animate socio-recreational activities and special events
• Teach children social development skills and promote positive individual and group behavior
• Intervene effectively in conflict situations
• Ensure positive interpersonal working relationships with parents, co-workers, volunteers and children
• Supervise, support and integrate counselors in training (CITs) and volunteers during activities
• Efficiently complete all administrative tools and tasks assigned
• Actively participate and come prepared for supervisory and staff meetings
• Ensure the equipment, material and supplies are properly used and stored
• Implement and respect code of conduct, all rules, policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• CEGEP in a related filed or relevant experience
• Experience in child animation and program planning is an asset
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of issues facing children in marginalized communities
• Strong understanding of and ability to support child development
• Strong organization skills, ability to delegate, multi-tasking, time management and computer skills.
• Ability to communicate in French and English
Job Conditions:
• $13.50 per hour.
• 35 hours (Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm). Some flexibility required.
