The Tour Guide will maintain a high level of professionalism while imparting knowledge of the area’s history to museum visitors. The Tour Guide will guide visitors, residents and school groups through the museum exhibits, National Historic Sites and to relate information/data on other historical destinations in the community of Gravelbourg. They will also promote the historical and cultural sites of Gravelbourg by being knowledgeable on points of interest in the community and their historical and cultural context; inform visitors as to current events/activities taking place in the community; participate on behalf of the Museum in any events/activities taking place in the community. Inform visitors of other points of interest within the Saskatchewan southwest; assist in museum cataloguing and conservation care; work with teachers and educators on outreach programs; work hours as specified by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:
-Work attire is to be presentable at all times.
-Must be able to communicate well in both English and French.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of age groups and cultures.
-Exhibited interest in heritage research and/or conservation.
-Ability to use Microsoft based software programs.
-Must be willing to work weekends.
-Must have been a full-time student in the semester preceding the YCW job and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW job.
-Preference will be given to minority groups.
-Preference will be given to individuals fluent in both French and English
-Preference will be given to those applicants with an illustrated interest and/or education in Canadian Studies, Social Communication, History, Tourism and/or Museum Studies and/or demonstrate an interest in heritage research or conservation.

Orientation to the museum infrastructure and resources (computer, database, resources and artifact library) will be undertaken immediately upon start of employment. Additional time will be needed to orient the individual to infrastructure he/she will be working within (e.g.: artifacts, catalogue and conservation materials).

We anticipate that the individuals will operate fairly autonomously after initial project direction. Progress will be monitored weekly and additional training as required. Month end reporting by the Tourism Centre manger will occur with the Project Supervisor.
