Two Rivers Gallery, the centre for art and creativity in Northern BC, is hiring a Regional Programming Coordinator. The position provides a unique opportunity for a University or College student to gain skill-building work experiences in a public art gallery designing and facilitating educational art programs for school aged children.

The main tasks of the Regional Programming Coordinator will include facilitating Imagination on the Move, an educational outreach program, and facilitating full day Creativity Camps and morning Summer Art Clubs. Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, this student will travel to rural communities in the Fraser-Fort George Regional District, leading elementary school students and teachers in art lessons and projects. During the second half of the placement, this student will also take on the responsibilities of children’s programming, working with our BMO KidzArt Dayz Coordinator and Creativity Camp Coordinator facilitating the Summer Art Club for children ages 5-10 and the full day Creativity Camps for 6-12 year olds and teens.

Students who have worked in the Two Rivers Gallery programming department in the past have gone on to successful careers in education, design, non-profit organizations and community development. All the skills this student develops will be transferrable to any field. The position of Regional Programming Coordinator will provide valuable project management experience for this student, enhancing employability, while introducing this student to career options in the museum and heritage field. This summer job will provide opportunities to work and network with professionals in the field in a small, creative and inclusive team environment.

This position is full time, 37.5 hour week, for 18 weeks from May 3 to September 1, 2017.

This position is suitable for an Undergraduate/Graduate student studying fine arts, education or other related fields. Experience working with children, a love of art, leadership skills, teamwork and excellent communication skills in English are essential. A driver’s license is required.

Two Rivers Gallery will hire students through a fair and balanced selection process. The Gallery is interested in hiring young Canadians from other parts of the country and/or with other languages in addition to English.
