The Royal Alberta Museum, Alberta's provincial museum, requires a Collections Move Assistant to work under the direction of the Assistant Curator of the Military and Political History program to help prepare the program’s Uniforms and Accoutrements collection for its future move to new collections facilities. The candidate will inventory and photograph the collection, and update artifact records in The Museum System (TMS) database. The position requires an individual presently enrolled in a Museum Studies program, Human Ecology program, History program, or equivalent. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team. The candidate must have good computer skills, strong attention to detail, and exhibit analytical thinking and problem solving skills. Previous experience with digital photography, museum collections and collections databases, as well as knowledge of preventative conservation practices are assets. Edmonton is the Capital City of Alberta and is called Festival City. The candidate will be in Edmonton during numerous events such as the Works (art festival), the Jazz Festival, Street Performers Festival, Capital Ex, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, and the Edmonton Fringe Festival (theatre). Edmonton has the largest proportion of green space of any Canadian city, most of it accessible through the “ribbon of green,” the City’s North Saskatchewan River Valley.
