JOB DESCRIPTION:

The University of Calgary's English Language Program provides second language learning solutions at the local and international level for individual, institutional, and business clients. High quality, customer-centered, comprehensive language programs for international adult learners are the core business of the program.

The English Language Program is seeking full-time ESL Explore Monitor who is a current university student or recent graduate with a background in leadership, foreign languages and/or education.

Socio-Cultural Support
This position will play a key role in the English Language Program's extracurricular Activity Program. Working closely with the Student Experience Coordinator and the Activity Program Leads, you will assist in planning and coordinating socio-cultural activities and excursions. You will lead groups of ESL students on sports, cultural, and recreational events, helping to foster a welcoming and engaging environment. Interacting with students and encouraging them to practice their English language skills are key responsibilities. Most activities are scheduled during weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as on weekends.

Administrative Support
In addition to the Activity Program, you will provide clerical support to program managers, coordinators, and staff, contributing to the smooth operation of the department.

This role is based at the University of Calgary main campus, with on-campus accommodation provided for the entire duration of employment.

- Applicants should demonstrate an intermediate to advanced level of English language proficiency
- Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to be a reliable team player
- Leadership skills
- Event planning and project coordination experience
- Organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to participate in outdoor activities
