is looking for three Temporary Full time Museum Attendants for the 2017 Summer Season




Job Details

Position runs from May 15, 2017 to September 1, 2017

$15.00 per hour at 5 days week at 7.5 hours a day

Days only, no evenings, Will have to work stat holidays

Job Requirements

Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;

Between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;

Are you registered in the YCW on-line candidate inventory?;

Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;

Do not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with YCW;

Have been a full-time student in spring of 2017 and intend to return to full-time studies in the 2017 fall;

Must read, write and speak fluent English;

Be familiar with Word and Excel;

Must submit RCMP Security with vulnerable section and Child Welfare check;

Must have own transportation;

Must like to work with children, youth and seniors;

Willing to learn Past Perfect Software;

Must be able to provide guides tours of museum;

Must be able to be Program Leader in children and youth programs;

Must be able to perform office/clerical work;

Must be prepared to do housekeeping and yard maintenance;

Interest and understanding of the operations of the Canadian Tractor Museum;

Ability to work independently or as a team;

Ability to multi-task & self-motivated;

Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner;

Must be courteous and personable when dealing with the public;

Must be willing to take initiative and detail-oriented

Must be dependable and punctual;

Computer literate, typing and organizational skills;

Excellent written and oral communication skills;

Must be comfortable and effective speaking to, motivating and interacting with both large and small groups of participants of various ages;

Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor;

Interest in history, museum studies, public history, interpretation or education;

Friendly, active listener with excellent conversational and public speaking skills;

Intellectually curious and open to learning and sharing new things;

Self-reflective and eager to continuously improve guide skills;

Ability to handle multiple tasks and the unexpected calmly;

Must be able to stand for several hours at a time & use stairs;

Knowledge of community and agricultural history;

Good comprehension& ability to focus on purpose of research objects;

Ability to adequately write research reports;

Likes to work outdoors & physically capable of lifting 50 pounds;

Mechanically inclined is an asset;

Pays attention to detail with sense of accomplishment;

Knowledgeable about WHMIS.
