The Secrets of Radar Museum is seeking a Collections & Exhibitions Assistant (x2) for the summer season, beginning May 30 and ending August 26, 2017, 30hrs/week at $11.40/hour. The successful candidate will have a background in history, education, sciences or similar university program, and possess both a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Prior work or volunteer experience at a museum or historic site is an asset.
The incumbent(s) will be responsible for assisting with the management of the museum’s collections, redevelopment of exhibitions and public displays, and interpretative materials, both on-site and in a virtual setting. They will also provide delivery of gallery tours to museums visitors and presentations at outreach programming. Candidates will have opportunities to visit and attend other sites and professional activities, and will gain valuable insight into the operation of a small museum. They will also receive site-appropriate Health and Safety training, as well as safe handling of museum collections. Candidates should demonstrate computer proficiency, including MS Office Suite, and experience with graphics and/or media software. Successful applicants must provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
