Museum Guide and Interpreter (4 positions)


Job Location: North Highlands Community Museum, Cape North, NS


Job Description: Students with skills and interest in the following areas are sought by the North Highlands Community Museum. Guides will:

• Provide educational tours of the museum to visitors

• Provide information on local geography, history, and culture

• Assist with demonstrations, workshops and other events

• Help maintain the museum and settler’s garden

• Assist with running gift shop, handling cash

• Keep records of museum visitors

• Assist with historical and genealogical research

• Assist with other museum operational needs


Qualifications:

• Strong verbal communication skills

• Friendly manner, positive attitude

• Ability to work well as a team member

• Responsible & dependable

• Applicants must have been a full-time student in the semester preceding this job and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following this job, and be between 16 and 30 years of age



Assets:

• computer skills

• customer service experience

• experience handling cash

• knowledge of local North Highlands history and culture


Wages will be in the range of $10.60/hr for a 40 hour week, for 10 weeks, beginning June 19th and ending August 27th.
