The Collections Assistant at the Museum of the Highwood will gain excellent practical experience in a variety of museum work, including assisting with inventory and photography/scanning of artifacts and archival materials and updating records in the collections database, and assisting with curatorial collections research and exhibit planning.
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirement of the YCW program and be registered in the on-line candidate inventory. Additionally, the candidate must have been a full-time student in the semesters preceding employment and must be intending to return to full-time studies in the fall.
Interested candidates will be working towards a post-secondary degree in museum studies, collections conservation and/or management, history, archaeology, anthropology or a related discipline.
The successful candidate will be task oriented, work well independently as part of a team, have a passion for history, be willing to learn and experience new things, and have a good working knowledge of computerized database programs (though training on PastPerfect will be provided). Previous experience at a museum and/or archives will be considered an asset.

The position will commence on May 8, 2017 and end on September 1, 2017 with an hourly wage of $16.00.
