Cupids Legacy Centre Bilingual Interpreter


May 16 – September 1st, 2017 (16 Weeks)

Salary: $14.00 per hour; 37.5 hours per week


One position is available through a funding partnership with Young Canada Works in Both Official Languages.


Cupids Legacy Centre Bilingual Interpreter will be the nucleus of a team of on-site interpreters that will greet visitors, provide guided tours of Cupids Legacy Centre and other attractions around the community. Assist with the research and translation of a Ships & Shipbuilders of Cupids project being developed in Cupids by Cupids Legacy Centre.


Candidate Profile:

Fluent in both Official Languages. Candidates should be senior undergraduate or graduate students at a recognized university with academic background in either French, Museum Studies, History, Applied Arts, Education, Geography, Environmental Studies or other relevant discipline and a demonstrated interest in History. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of computers. Good interpersonal skills in meeting the public and working with colleagues. Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge or experience in museum operations would be considered an asset.


Other desirable attributes would be:

 skill in performing and/or visual arts e.g. acting, singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, visual presentation using one or more mediums.
