The Colony of Avalon Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organisation located in Ferryland, Newfoundland, approximately one hour south of St. John’s. Our mandate? To investigate, preserve and present the archaeological remains of George Calvert’s 17th century Colony of Avalon.
Our current facilities and programming include a professional archaeological program conducted in
partnership with Memorial University of NL, conservation lab, visitors’ centre and giftshop, re-created 17th century kitchen and gardens, plus school and public programming. Today, the Colony is widely recognised as the best preserved early colonial site in North America and one of Newfoundland’s anchor heritage attractions (for more information, head to www.colonyofavalon.ca).
As a member of the Colony's Visitor Experience Team, you'll be an ambassador for our site, communicating the relevance and significance of both its history and ongoing research to our visiting public. You'll help plan and present special events and programming, and you'll help ensure every visitor receives not just good service, but an amazing experience they'll never forget.
If you have a passion for the past, enjoy the outdoors, and can hold your side of a conversation in both French and English, we'd love to hear from you. Previous course experience in archaeology, history and/or botany is an asset, but not a deal breaker. Interested? Send a resume and cover letter to info@thecolonyofavalon.ca Submission deadline May 15, 2017.
