Position: Marketing Coordinator, YCW
Term: temporary full time; May 23 – August 26, 2017
Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is looking for enthusiastic and creative Marketing Coordinator who loves working with unique visual arts communities and cultural groups. The regular hours for that position are Tuesdays to Saturdays, 35 hours/week with some evening work. The position reports directly to the Harcourt House’s Executive Director with additional reporting to Gallery Services Coordinator and Art Education Program Leader.
Harcourt House Artist Run Centre is an open, viewer friendly forum for the best in contemporary visual/new media arts, architecture and design. Since its inception in 1988, Harcourt House – operated by professional gallery personnel – has established itself as an important forum for the best in Canadian contemporary visual culture in the context of international art. It carries out its mandate by providing programs and exhibitions of the highest caliber and quality to support the local and national arts community and Edmonton audience. Harcourt House comprises the single largest community of visual artists’ studios in Alberta. By providing 42 affordable studio spaces to artists and the exhibitions/art education facilities, the organization has created an environment of artistic vibrancy and community spirit that cannot be matched anywhere else in Western Canada, possibly in the whole of the country. Fiscal responsibility, communities support, aggressive fundraising, professional academic gallery personnel, and volunteer contributions support the Harcourt House’s commitment to excellence in programming and professional arts services for Edmonton’s visual arts community and the community at large.
Tasks and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate works closely with the Harcourt’s administrative/curatorial personnel and Art Education Program Leader and assists in the development and implementation of Harcourt’s overall marketing strategy; assists in the development of marketing plans promoting Harcourt’s general brand awareness as well as exhibitions/art education programs, special events, and public programs; contributes to the evaluation of digital analytics, audience demographics, social media interactions and other data or research; develops and update social media content/Harcourt’s website; assists in coordination and implementation of all marketing initiatives intended for both internal and external audiences; researches and develops marketing and advertising opportunities in a variety of media and platforms; works collaboratively with the Harcourt’s professional personnel to support their activities and promotional needs with strategic marketing insight, tactical marketing plans and the assistance in the development of advertising and collateral for specific target audience as required; monitors and responds to interactions on all Harcourt’s social media channels; preparation of social media analytics and data analysis to assess campaigns.
Skills/Qualifications: The preferred candidate must be a current post-secondary student (preferably 3rd or 4th year student) in marketing, public relations and/or communications studies. The preferred candidate will possess excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills; knowledge in the development and implementation of marketing plans; awareness of changing marketing trends and audience development; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; the ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, initiative, tact, and diplomacy; general knowledge and understanding of the non-profit cultural sector ; experience with using digital advertising and data collection platforms including but not limited to Google Analytics, Google Ad Words, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, You Tube; experience with social media marketing and technologies such as website content management software, digital imagery and video applications; is energetic, creative, motivated and dedicated.
