RiverBrink Art Museum requires a Curatorial Assistant for the period of May 15 to September 2 2017. The successful candidate will work with curatorial staff, conduct research in preparation for an upcoming Sesquicentennial-themed exhibition, and provide project management assistance. The student will also be responsible for creating a virtual tour of installed exhibitions and will conduct additional research on art works in the collection. The position also requires some work at museum reception, in the gift shop, providing introduction and assistance to visitors. This is a full-time position (at $12.00 per hour for a total of 37.5 hours per week) during the summer season. The successful candidate will work a Monday to Friday shift with occasional evening or weekend work. RiverBrink is not accessible by public transit and student must have their own transportation.
RiverBrink Art Museum is located in the village of Queenston, Niagara-on-the-lake. The fine art museum houses the Samuel E. Weir Collection of over 1400 art works, a fine art library, decorative arts and archival documents and hosts exhibitions of historical and contemporary art. visit www.riverbrink.org.
Interested candidates must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as art history, museum studies, fine art or Canadian history. Past experience in a museum or art gallery would be an asset, however previous experience with research and project management will be considered. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a passion for art and art history, and intermediate knowledge of digital photography.
The Candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status, be between the ages of 18 to 30, have completed a full term of post-secondary study and be returning to full-time study in the fall.
