The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is seeking an Education Assistant for the summer 2017
season (35 hr/week, $11.50/hr) starting date June 9. The successful candidate will have a background in
Anthropology, Public History, Education, Museum Studies, First Nations studies, or similar
University program and possess both a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Prior work or
volunteer experience at a museum or historic site is an asset.

The Education Assistant will be responsible for delivering education programs and leading
workshops for school, day camp, and tour groups, as well as interpreting the Museum for
visitors. The position also offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved in
educational program development and marketing initiatives. He/She will also receive
supervisory and leadership training.

Characteristics of City/Region:

The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is located in the northwest corner of the City of London.
This city has a rich archaeological past, with many settlements in this region since the end of
the last ice age, approximately 13,000 years ago. Adjacent to the Museum is a 500-year-old
village once inhabited by approximately 1,500 Iroquoian agriculturalists. This site is considered
one of London's largest village sites prior to European contact.
