The Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum are seeking a student to work as a Lab Assistant in Palaeontology at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina this summer. The position will primarily involve preparing amber samples and searching for fossil inclusions trapped within amber. The work will also involve an introduction to a much broader range of palaeontological lab and research techniques, which may include fieldwork (in southern Saskatchewan).

Candidates must meet the requirements set out by Young Canada Works (https://young-canada-works.canada.ca/), and will require at least one year of post-secondary education in geology, biology, palaeontology, or a closely related discipline. Experience with topics such as microscopy, photography, lapidary polishing, and insect identification would be considered assets for this position. Employment is for up to 15 weeks (beginning May 1st, 2017) and the rate of pay is $16.25 per hour.
